2020 Election And Resting In Christ

god's sovereignty

With the 2020 Presidential Election looking to favor Joe Biden (D) there are scores of American evangelicals dipping into early depression.

Why?

Because even though Joe Biden professes to be a practicing ‘Catholic’ and his running mate, Kamala Harris, stated that she is a woman ‘of faith,’ we know by the policies that they espouse that neither are remotely in the zip code of the evangelical jurisdiction.

Both support the party platform, in fact they ARE the party platform, of abortion on demand. They have even discussed and tipped their hat to post birth abortion.  It’s evil, wicked, and It’s murder.  It’s ALL murder!

It causes us pause. It causes indigestion when we see professing evangelicals support such Godless activity. America has become a carbon copy of what we see in the Old testament Jewish nations.  God exiled them time after time in view of their gross idolatry. They seem to have never learned. That’s America today.

It appears we are about to be exiled again.

Stress Relief For The Believer

In these times of despair we need to look to the Scripture for our reminder that God is Sovereign (Proverbs 16:33).  He sits in the heavens and does as He pleases (Psalm 115).  He sets up and brings down kings (Daniel 2:21).

Throughout the Scriptures God informs us:

  • To rest in Him
  • To rest in His Son
  • To rest in the Holy Spirit
  • To rest in the Trinity

It is so easy for us to do as Satan and his minions want us to do.  That is to take our eyes off of the Pearl of Great Price (Matthew 13:45-47).  To chase after the things of this world that will pass away and have zero meaning or value other than temporary false pleasures.

The Apostle Paul gave Timothy (and all believers) instructions.

"So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart."

Not only is it easy for Satan to tempt us with the things of the world, it is easy for us to follow them.  Keeping rooted in the Word by reading the Scripture, listening to solid expository preaching, and utilizing solid study tools we can stay focused on Christ.  We can remain free from anxiety and depression and move forward understanding that Christ is in control (Ephesians 1:11).

So as we move forward in the process of a possible and likely transition of power (barring a miracle) let us believers keep focused on Christ and be the salt and light of the earth and to be anxious about nothing. All the while continuing to stand our ground, stay rooted in our faith, being able to communicate what we believe and why we believe it!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
