As Christian homeschooling parents, Jade and I are constantly under pressure of choosing new curriculum each year. Curriculum that will suffice for the adequate education of our children. When it comes to the subject of science, choosing isn’t always easy. We strive to select texts that teach the Biblical creation story as found in the book of Genesis.
Dinosaurs: God’s Mysterious Creatures is an excellent choice for kids. It deals with a literal 6 day creation. The book also explains the beginning and ending of Dinosaurs as we know them, yet not with a Big Bang! The text also explains the different types of fossils we find in the sediment today. This little science book for kids is a winner!
Which Dinosaurs Will They Meet?
Your children will meet some fun, fierce and even frilled dino buddies like Stegosaurus, T. rex, and Triceratops. They will also encounter some hard-to-pronounce beasts like Parasaurolophus (Pah-rah-sore-o-loe-fus).
The Gospel
My favorite part of the book? Dinos and the gospel! You read that right. ICR does not fail to present the gospel in clear and precise fashion. The book discusses the person and work of Jesus Christ. Let’s be honest, there are many organizations that pass themselves off as “Christian” when you would be hard pressed to find a solid gospel presentation anywhere in their material. But that is NOT the case with the Institute for Creation Research.
The first book of its kind, Dinosaurs will delight readers with the wonders of God’s mysterious reptile creatures.
Not only is this solid material for kids but it is also excellent for adults as well. There is always room for adult learning right along side of your children.
So whether you would use this for curriculum in the home school setting, night time reading before bed, or Sunday School material, you cannot go wrong with this little gem from the Institute for Creation Research.
